Storia e funzioni del Parlamento europeo a 45 anni dalla prima elezione diretta
In view of the European elections which will be on 8 and 9 June, on Monday, 3 June 2024, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., the Sala Paladin of Palazzo Moroni in Padua will host a public event dedicated to the history and functions of the European Parliament, forty-five years after its first direct election.
The initiative offers an important opportunity to reflect on the evolution of this key European institution and its role in shaping democracy and governance across the Union. The discussion will be guided by Laura Polverari (University of Padua), who will introduce and moderate the session.
Contributions will follow from Laura Gnan (Europe Direct Padua), Alessandro Giordani (European Commission), Cristina Zerbinati (University of Padua), and Flavio Zanonato, former Member of the European Parliament and former Mayor of Padua. Their perspectives will help trace not only the historical trajectory of the European Parliament but also the challenges and opportunities it faces today.
The event has been made possible thanks to the collaboration between the University of Padua – Department of Political Science, Law and International Studies (SPGI), the CAPIS Observatory, the Centro Studi Regionali “Giorgio Lago”, the Centro Studi Ettore Luccini, and Europe Direct Padova.
The event will be held in Italian.
